Phd. Suleyman CELIK

Dr. Suleyman Celik, Dean of the Education Faculty at Ishik University, in Erbil-Iraq, teaches pedagogy courses in different departments. His teaching interests include teacher training in pedagogy and Principles of teaching. Prior to coming to Ishik University, he has worked in different parts of Turkey as an English Language instructor. Celik received his PhD in 2013 in Georgia. His primary research focuses on learner diversity and differentiated instructions. He presented several articles in the conferences and published research articles based on different types of learners and their consequences in different journals. He is the chairman of two leading Educational conferences in Iraq. He is also the head of internal audit committee of the University. Celik resides with his family in Erbil. In his free time he reads books and surf the Internet.

My Teaching philosophy is :

People at this age are suffering from the huge problems such as, terrorism, extremism, poverty, illiteracy, disunity and corruption and many others. All the problems start and end with the individuals. A true education can be a solution for the catastrophic challenges. A true education is a tool which attains us to the rank of true humanity and become a beneficial element of society.  Education should be supported by tolerance and patience and not by the suppression of opposition or the use of force. As teachers we should elevate the coming generations to the rank of humanity, not by obliterating the bad ones. Moreover, education should prove the high-quality secular education and moral values combined with the altruism of teachers who appeal to people all over the world.   The education areas should be a safe learning environment for all who share the common human values. If there is no safety and the students do not feel secure, there will be barriers in front of them in regards to learning. Thus the environment should be calm, safe and positive. In addition, education should offer students good quality education and the chance to learn good manners and morals.  It is important to me that my students, as well as their parents, other teachers, administrators, and people in the community, see me as someone they can approach, who will be fair and nondiscriminatory. Classroom organization is also a key concept to consider when teaching. If students are in a classroom that is unorganized or set up in a way which hinders learning, it is not a good situation for anyone. I need to find creative, new ways to have the room set up and to help my students learn. I also believe in teaching content that is meaningful, applicable, and inviting to students. If they do not see the point of the subject matter then they will not be interested in it. I also believe that high energy levels and a positive attitude from the teacher are key elements to a successful learning environment.
